" Back to the Caves " This Voluntary Program is part of the " cooperation agreement " exists between the agency and the program ASVO of the Ministry of Environment and Energy ( MINAE ), institution of the government of Costa Rica that administrate and protect all the system of National Parks and Natural Reserves of country. This program develops in a beautiful scenery called Barra Honda National Park that is part of the grand " Area de Conservacion Guanacaste " located on the North Pacific of country. This big conservation area is also formed for the Palo Verde National Park. The Park it has an extension of 2,300 hectares composed especially for " Dry Tropical Forest " on transition to " Wet Tropical ". The average temperature is of 28° Celsius / 82° Farenheight most part of year and the pluvial precipitation is around 1,970 mm yearly. Within the main fauna of park is possible to find a big diversity of birds and several and very beautiful mammalian as chipmunks, guatusas, White Tail Deer and anteaters. Main attractions of park: several beautiful caves, several beautiful natural look - out with great views and all the equipment necessary to make " speleology " researches. The park disposes of services as: · Electricity · Potable Water · Radio communication System · Two Camping areas where lodge both volunteers and staff of park with toilets and showers. Gallery of Pictures The " Voluntary Work " includes maintenance of paths and installations, maintenance of camping areas and attention to visitors. The volunteers lodge in the camping area in big tents, some for girls, some for boys. Volunteers and Staff of park eat all together in the Dining Room area.
